RBC Heritage

Yahoo Expert Fantasy Golf Advice & Predictions

We have some prior commitments early this week, so our picks will be delayed.  Please check back on Tue/Wed.  We hope you enjoyed the Masters.  Jordan was #1 in our power rankings, so it’s nice to see him win – for many reasons.

Previous RBC Heritage champions include:

  • Matt Kuchar (2014)
  • Graeme McDowell (2013)
  • Carl Pettersson (2012)
  • Brandt Snedeker (2011)
  • Jim Furyk (2010)
  • Brian Gay (2009)
  • Boo Weekley (2008)
  • Boo Weekley (2007)
  • Aaron Baddeley (2006)

Harbour Town Golf Links (Sea Pines Resort) in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, will host the RBC Heritage for the 47th straight season. Harbour Town Golf Links is a par 71, 7,101 yard test.

Webb has made three cuts in a row with a 7th place finish at the WGC Cadillac and a solid showing at the Masters. His 2nd place finish here last year gives us confidence plus he had two 14th place finishes in 2010 and 2011. Finally, he’s the 6th best “Course Fit” this week which means he’s good at what is required to play well at the RBC.
(A2) Jim Furyk (MC) Masters

While Jim isn’t playing that well lately, you have to throw out his Masters performance because he just can’t compete at Augusta. The Valero and Valspar, two places he normally does well at, were not good showings, so the only thing we have to bet on this week is his solid course history and his #7 Course Fit ranking. It’s very close between Furyk and Haas.

Had a nice showing at the Masters but Course Fit is average this week and his track record is much more middle of the pack. Look for a solid performance but a win would be out of character here.
(A4) Ben Martin (MC) Masters
(5) Bay Hill
(31) Honda
(MC) Northern Trust
(3) 2014
(56) 2011

Nice Bay Hill showing and 3rd place here last year. Ignore the Masters, as it was his first. He’s a dark horse this week. Donald is another candidate for this slot given his track record here and #26 Course Fit.

(B1) Jordan Spieth (1) Masters
(2) Shell
(2) Valero
(1) Valspar
(12) 2014
(9) 2013

Jordan is here to stay. We’re going to have to come up with a new strategy for Jordan given how well he does on a weekly basis. Knowing when to leave him out of your lineup or on your bench will be critical next year. Two nice showings here and a solid #20 Course Fit mean he’s bound for another top 5 unless he’s exhausted from the Masters and/or withdraws.
(B2) Zach Johnson (9) Masters
(20) Valero
(9) Bay Hill
(49) WGC Cadillac
(61) 2014
(48) 2013
(2) 2012
MC 2011
(47) 2010
Zach has two 9th place finishes in his last 3 events plus a 2nd here in 2012. Other finishes have been mediocre the past five years, but he does sport a #21 Course Fit, so he gets the nod this week.
(B3) Ian Poulter (6) Masters
(21) Bay Hill
(24) Valspar
(49) WGC Cadillac
(36) 2011

Ian Poulter who is trending upward made the cut here in 2011. His game is a nice fit here with a #17 Course Fit ranking. Trends seem to be aligning though historically, he’s been hard to predict.
(B4) Chris Kirk (33) Masters
(8) Valero
(MC) Bay Hill
(56) WGC Cadillac
(27) 2014
(30) 2013
MC 2012
MC 2011

Chris Kirk had a nice 8th place finish at the Valero and has improved here recently. He also sports a #12 Course Fit ranking, so we’re leaning toward giving him a chance and leaving the disappointing Kuchar off our lineup this week.
(B5) Matt Kuchar (46) Masters
(70) Shell
(15) Valero
(33) Valspar
(1) 2014
(35) 2013
(44) 2012
(21) 2011
(14) 2010
We’ll reevaluate later, but even though Kuchar is defending champion, his recent performance has been so-so. He could rebound this week but we have a nice Group B lineup already. He does have a #4 Course Fit ranking this week, so that’s another reason to consider him.
(B6) Brandt Snedeker (MC) Masters
(13) Bay Hill
(53) Valspar
(17) WGC Cadillac
(74) 2014
(59) 2013
(17) 2012
(1) 2011
MC 2010
Brandt won here several years ago and had a nice 13th place finish at Bay Hill. I even helped his caddie find a yardage marker at the Masters, after he hit a spectator a few feet from me. He has a #15 Course Fit ranking this week and could be a surprise.

(C1) Charley Hoffman (9) Masters
(11) Shell
(11) Valero
(MC) Valspar
(38) 2014
(6) 2013
(8) 2012

Two top 10s here in 2012 and 2013 plus an 11th, 11th, 9th place finish his last three times out. None of the top Group C players have a high Course Fit this week, so we’ll go with Charley and see if he can keep up the momentum.
(C2) Russell Henley (21) Masters
(4) Shell
(49) Bay Hill
(56) WGC Cadillac
MC 2014
(6) 2013

Henley is similar to Hoffman with a 6th place here in 2013 and a nice Shell/Masters combo leading up to the RBC. He’s a medium-strong fit for the course and is close to several other Group C players.
(C3) Pat Perez (11) Shell
(20) Valero
(MC) Bay Hill
(41) Northern Trust
(18) 2014
(18) 2013
(6) 2011

Three top 20s here in the past four years (only three attempts). Trending upward recently.
(C4) Patrick Reed (22) Masters
(17) Shell
(2) Valspar
(23) WGC Cadillac
(48) 2014
MC 2013

Patrick Reed made the cut here for the first time last year. His last four finishes are all top 25s, but he has a week course fit this week. We’ll leave him off our lineup and hope Henley can play well.
