(A1) Jason Day (10) Tour Champ
(1) BMW Champ
(12) Deutsche Bank
(1) The Barclays
(3) 2015
(9) 2011

Had a great finish to 2015 though a disappointing Tour Championship. He finished 3rd place here last year, was/is playing well, had a nice break, and is sneaky good on the greens – the #1 stat category this week. He literally has a fractional advantage over Jordan this week so essentially it’s a tie. This is his 5th best “horse for the course” ranking 3rd best course fit of all tournaments on the PGA Tour. That’s why we’re going to use him this week and probably keep Spieth on the bench.
(A2) Jordan Spieth (4) Hero World Challenge
(7) HSBC Champions
(1) Tour Champ
(13) BMW Champ
(2) 2014

Fractionally short of Jason Day, Spieth is another great play this week. This is also one of his best horses for courses rankings and 6th best course fit for him (#1 in the field this week). Played more recently with two top 10s at the HSBC and Hero (not hard here).
(A3) Rickie Fowler (3) Hero World Challenge
(17) HSBC Champions
(25) Shriners Hospitals Open
(12) Tour Champ
(6) 2013

Solid play so far in the new 2015-2016 season, though not spectacular. #3 course fit this week.
(A4) Bubba Watson (1) Hero World Challenge
(35) HSBC Champions
(5) Tour Champ
(10) BMW Champ
(10) 2015
(4) 2013
(18) 2012
(25) 2011

Bubba won the Hero World Challenge in December, which is a nice data point, though he’s not a great course fit here (he’s not a stats guru overall, so this isn’t surprising). He hasn’t impressed here over his last four attempts.
(A5) Dustin Johnson (15) Hero World Challenge
(5) HSBC Champions
MC Hong Kong Open
(5) Tour Champ
(6) 2014
(1) 2013
(9) 2011
(16) 2010

The trend here is that Yahoo has put a lot of the typical B group players in the A group this year. Won here in 2013 but had a very poor showing at the Hero World Challenge.
Other options include: (A6) Justin Thomas, (A7) Chris Kirk, and (A8) Matt Every .

(B1) Patrick Reed (2) Hero World Challenge
(10) DP World Tour Champ
(2) BMW Masters
(7) HSBC Champions
(1) 2015
(16) 2014

#3 overall power ranking this week. Four straight top 10s at full field events – very impressive. Defending champion, decent course fit (for him – he’s a lot like Bubba – poor stats compared to overall play), and #2 similar course/field ranking. He does well in these types of situations and we’ll look to start him this week.
(B2) Zach Johnson (12) Hero World Challenge
MC RSM Classic
(8) Tour Champ
(13) BMW Champ
(7) 2015
(1) 2014
(18) 2013
(23) 2011
(18) 2010

Two good showings here in a row, but poor recent play for him over the past several events. He’s more likely a bench rider until proven otherwise.
(B3) Kevin Kisner (1) RSM Classic
(2) HSBC Champions
(37) CIMB Classic
(25) Shriners Hospitals Open

Coming off a 2nd and 1st place finish (first victory at RSM Classic to finish 2015 calendar year). Hasn’t played here before, but could be a solid play though unlikely to win.
(B4) Jimmy Walker (8) Hero World Challenge
(50) Shriners Hospitals Open
(18) Tour Champ
(32) BMW Champ
(2) 2015
(21) 2014

Less than stellar performance his last four events but 2nd place finish here last year is a good sign. #7 course fit and #4 similar course/field rankings point to a decent start here – depends on what he did over the holiday and where his game is. Watch and wait.
(B5) Russell Knox (24) Nedbank Challenge
(2) OHL Classic
(1) HSBC Champions
(21) CIMB Classic

Had a very good start to 2015-2016 season with victory at HSBC Champions and 2nd at OHL Classic but no history here.
(B6) Brooks Koepka (7) Hero World Challenge
MC Shriners Hospitals Open
(41) Frys.com Open
(2) Alfred Dunhill Links

Inconsistent recently but when he plays well, things go very well. The hope here is that this course is a decent fit (#10 course fit) and that helps him get in a groove this week.
(B7) J.B. Holmes (8) Hero World Challenge
(8) Tour Champ
(4) BMW Champ
(44) Deutsche Bank
(33) 2015

Poor course fit this week but has been playing solidly. Worth an outside shot if you’re not planning on ZJ or Jimmy Walker.
Other options include: (B8) Danny Lee, (B9) Alex Cjeka, and (B10) James Hahn .

(C1) Graeme McDowell (3) RSM Classic
(1) OHL Classic
(37) Turkish Airlines Open
(24) Hong Kong Open
(3) 2011

Saved a lackluster 2015 with a win at the OHL Classic and 3rd at RSM Classic. 3rd place here in 2011. #4 course fit. All of this equals a player who could do very well this week.
(C2) Bill Haas (5) Hero World Challenge
(33) RSM Classic
(26) Tour Champ
(19) BMW Champ
(24) 2014
(23) 2013
(20) 2012
(8) 2011

Poor course fit, but solid finishes recently (though not too exciting). Best finish here has been 8th over the past four tries. We’re not certain he’ll be in our lineup (but if he is, he’ll be on the bench and waiting for an injury to get him in).
(C3) Scott Piercy (20) Nedbank Challenge
(35) HSBC Champions
(7) CIMB Classic
(25) Shriners Hospitals Open
(13) 2013
(12) 2012

Solid recent play but pretty average fit this week.
(C4) Emiliano Grillo (11) Nedbank Challenge
(4) DP World Tour Champ
(24) BMW Masters
(35) HSBC Champions

Young gun – had some nice play on Euro Tour at end of 2015. Hard to imagine him contending here given the field and lack of history.
(C5) David Lingmerth (9) Australian Open
(63) RSM Classic
(72) HSBC Champions
(14) CIMB Classic

Not much exciting here.
Other options include: (C6) Fabian Gomez, (C7) Smylie Kaufman (C?), and (C8) Peter Malnati (C?) .
