Dustin has made 10 cuts in a row, is coming off a 3rd place finish last week (nice that we chose him in Y!), and won here in 2012. Solid all around these days and just waiting for a win. Course fit ranking of 14 is very solid for him and this is on a par 70 layout, so that’s strong. Group A will come down to DJ, Phil, and Woodland, so 2 out of 3 should be in your lineup. DJ will be in ours again this week and will probably get a 4-start week.

Mickelson vs. Woodland – we’re leaning Phil because of the strong course history. 3rd last year is a nice recent data point and his 20th at the Memorial was solid. We’ll go with history over recency this week and add Phil to our lineup.
(A3) Gary Woodland (4) Memorial

Woodland vs. Mickelson – that’s the Group A decision this week. It’s a close one given Woodland pulled out a 4th place finish at the Memorial. He hasn’t impressed here before, but he’s gotten better each time (though it’s been some time). #30 course fit is also good for him here on a par 70 layout. The argument for Gary is his very solid recent play which is better than Phil.

Not much to look at here. Glad to see him healthy. Last two starts were made cuts, but we don’t really think there is a choice to put him in your lineup this week. 4 top 30s in his last 6 here is the best we can say plus a #17 course fit is actually pretty good. Top 30 this week?

Henley has been all over the place and lacks consistency. He’s not a valid option in a weak Group A.

Koepka came close here last year (3rd) and is coming off his best finish in some time (2nd at the Byron Nelson). Hopefully he’s put that lackluster stretch of golf behind him. The season is heating up and it’s time for him to get a win. This is as likely a place as anywhere for that to happen. #11 course fit this week shows he’s got a good chance.

His only recent missed cut was a surprise at the Byron Nelson. He’s had four nice events here in a row (3rd and 4th in ’12 and ’13), and he just barely missed at his home course the last time out. #16 course fit is also strong for him as this course has a fair amount of long hitters sandwiched in the #10-30 course fit rankings. He’s a must have in your lineup this week. Great on Bermuda greens and has a #2 similar course/field fit.
(B3) Harris English (2) Colonial
(49) Byron Nelson
MC The PLAYERS
(17) Wells Fargo
(45) 2015
MC 2014
(1) 2013

English won here in 2013, and he’s coming off a 2nd place finish at the Colonial. He’s a name we haven’t called on much this year, but with a very weak field, he’s in the conversation this week. It really comes down to him, McGirt, and Campbell. Hearn is on the outside looking in.

Cambpell has made a ton of cuts here and is heating up. 3 made cuts in his last 3 events. Plus a 12th and 10th place finish in his home state of Texas are nothing to scoff at. 3rd here in 2012 and 8th last year should show a nice confluence of events this week and if you’re betting against McGirt doing it two weeks in a row and want a hot hand, Cambpell may be the guy in Group B. #6 course fit means this is his type of course. We’ll call him Mr. Accuracy.

Hearn keeps having decent week after decent week the past three weeks. Nothing great to show for it and that is also true of his last 5 events here. #3 course fit puts his name in consideration and a weaker field could see him get inside the top 15 this week (or better).
(B6) Colt Knost (67) Colonial
(4) Byron Nelson
(3) The PLAYERS
(41) Wells Fargo
(12) 2015

Knost had a really nice Byron Nelson but faded at Colonial. Dean & Deluca is just too hard to say vs. Colonial. Two top 15s here in the past and he could get back to his top 10 finish form, but we’ll look elsewhere.

Great finish last week; hoping he will continue that hot play this week.

Berger is a lock for our team despite a lackluster Memorical. #13 course fit means that while he hasn’t played here before, he should take to the course nicely. He may sit on our bench for a day or two as we are interested in how quickly he gets comfortable.

MC 2012

Unlike Berger, Reifers and Steele have both played here before but both showed very little – 2 missed cuts. Reifers came close at Colonial and followed it up with a solid 20th at the Memorial. He’s hot and you have to like the hot hand.

Goosen has been making cuts (10 for 10), and he has a nice track record here though most of that was in the 2009-2011 time frame. Two top 15s in his past two events is encouraging though it’s been a while since he last played. That makes him a bit worrisome this week.
(C4) Tom Hoge (17) Colonial

MC Zurich Classic
(12) 2015

You could just as easily have put McDowell or Martin here. We chose Hoge to highlight his 12th place finish last year and his 17th place finish at Colonial. He also has a #12 course fit, so his game is well suited for this venue. He’s a gutsy call and one unlikely to garner you bonus points (perhaps McDowell will outplay a weak field), so proceed with caution.
