2014 Deutsche Bank Championship Fantasy Golf Advice & Predictions

GolfStrat’s Expert Fantasy Golf Picks
“Deutsche Bank Championship”

Posts for our Deutsche Bank Championship Golf Coverage:

Deutsche Bank Championship

Quick Barclays Recap: We had our best week of the year finishing 27th at the Barclays fueled by Hunter Mahan, Jason Day, and a lot of solid decisions with a little luck. That moves us up to #169 on Yahoo with three weeks to go. It’s probably too much to ask for another week like the Barclays, but there’s still a chance. With everyone dealing with the 10-start limit for the world’s best players, there’s definitely opportunity to be seized over the final three weeks. Good luck!

Previous Deutsche Bank Championship winners include: Henrik Stenson (2013), Rory McIlroy (2012), Webb Simpson (2011), Charley Hoffman (2010), Steve Stricker (2009), Vijay Singh (2004, 2008), Phil Mickelson (2007), Tiger Woods (2006), Olin Browne (2005), and Adam Scott (2003). TPC Boston will host the Deutsche Bank Championship for the 12th time starting in 2003. TPC Boston is a par 71, 7,214 yard test with most champions coming from the top ranks of golf.

Round 4 Notes
  • Weather: 6-7mph winds on Monday morning for day 4 of the Deutsche Bank, 6-8mph winds in the afternoon – no real difference; rain storm expected tonight, so course could be soft and ripe for the taking.
  • Same lineup as today – now that Day blew the lead once, he’ll hopefully right the ship and come out shooting tomorrow. Haas and Fowler are in similar positions. Schwartzel is our only C player left.

(A) Adam Scott (0 starts left) (15) Barclays
(15) PGA Champ.
(8) WGC Bridgestone
(5) British Open
(53) 2013
(7) 2012
(8) 2011
(5) 2010
Adam showed signs of life early at the Barclays but couldn’t pull himself up the leaderboard over the weekend. He had three nice years in a row at Deutsche Bank, but 2013 was a flop. If you have starts left, he should be in your lineup. We’re out.
(A) Henrik Stenson (38) Barclays
(3) PGA Champ.
(19) WGC Bridgestone
(39) British Open
(1) 2013
Defending champion at the Deutsche Bank Championship. If you throw out his 9 on the 4th hole on Saturday, he actually had a decent tournament… too bad golf doesn’t work that way. Others to consider: #3 Matt Kuchar (1 start left; we’ll wait for Tour Champ.), #4 Rickie Fowler (our 2nd starter this week), #5 Phil Mickelson (will he play?), #6 Brandt Snedeker, #7 Patrick Reed, #8 Gary Woodland, #9 Bubba Watson, #10 Marc Leishman
(B) Rory McIlroy (0 starts left) (22) Barclays
(1) PGA Champ.
(1) WGC Bridgestone
(1) British Open
(47) 2013
(1) 2012
(37) 2010
We’re out of starts, but he’s going to be dangerous this week (in a good way); prior champion, just couldn’t get things to break his way on the greens this week at the Barclays plus some flubbed chips kept him from getting any real momentum.
(B) Jason Day (2) Barclays
(15) PGA Champ.
(MC) WGC Bridgestone
(58) British Open
(13) 2013
(51) 2012
(3) 2011
(2) 2010
(19) 2009
Great track record, only missing a victory which he could grab this week; once he gets past his wrist issues, look out in 2015.
(B) Hunter Mahan (1) Barclays
(7) PGA Champ.
(15) WGC Bridgestone
(MC) RBC Canadian
(13) 2013
(39) 2012
(8) 2011
(33) 2010
(36) 2009
He led our team to a great week at the Barclays with only 8% of the teams starting him. We’ll trust him again as his game and attitude are in a good place right now.
(B) Jim Furyk (8) Barclays
(5) PGA Champ.
(15) WGC Bridgestone
(2) RBC Canadian
(27) 2013
(13) 2012
(6) 2011
(37) 2010
(8) 2009
Update: Justin Rose will take the week off. We’ll burn our last Furyk start this week and trust we’ll be able to find some other B players in the coming weeks to field a decent squad. Others to consider: #5 Bill Haas (our 4th starter), #6 Ernie Els, #7 William McGirt, #8 Hideki Matsuyama, #9 Jordan Spieth, #10 Zach Johnson
(C) Charl Schwartzel (30) Barclays
(15) PGA Champ.
(4) WGC Bridgestone
(43) RBC Canadian
(22) 2013
(47) 2012
(21) 2011
Hasn’t been spectacular but has been making cuts and helping out the squad.
(C) Kevin Na (9) Barclays
(MC) PGA Champ.
(23) WGC Bridgestone
(54) British Open
(69) 2012
(MC) 2011
(33) 2010
(11) 2009
Update: Sergio Garcia and Graeme McDowell will take the week off. Same goes for Paul Casey. Others to consider: #3 Bo Van Pelt, #4 Cameron Tringale, #5 Jimmy Walker, #6 Andres Romero, #7 John Senden, #8 Kevin Chappell
